Project Overview

WFP/BIL project (2012-2015)

Catalyst Partner with Community based Sustainable Food Security of smallholder rice producer farmers in target countries of West Africa in recovery and development phase “is a bilateral trust fund project financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of the Government of Japan. The project is an agriculture and capacity building project implemented as a WFP-MAFF joint project, aiming to support national strategies fighting poverty and food insecurity through rice production.

106 hectares of rehabilitated paddy fields are well maintained and sustained by the project beneficiaries;

Up to 450 farmers (mostly women) will improve and increase their productivity of food crops in and around the margin of lowlands developed through training and provision of inputs (i.e. fertilizer, etc)

Food security of target groups is improved through increased rice production for own consumption or sale in the markets;
