Catalyst Liberia Inc. has significantly contributed to the development of inland fish farming in Liberia. Through initiatives like the Fish-Lib Project, the organization has supported fish farmers in Bong, Lofa, and Nimba Counties to increase fish production.
The project focuses on agro-ecological intensification, ensuring that smallholder fish farmers integrate their activities into commercial value chains.
Catalyst has facilitated the training of farmers in pond development and management, water quality control, and sustainable fish feeding techniques.
By introducing fertilized water from ponds for vegetable gardening, the organization promotes an environmentally friendly and cost-effective approach to farming. Additionally, Catalyst has established fish farmers’ unions and cooperatives, strengthening their collective bargaining power in the market.
